A Local Crew That Learned Trees on the Line
Wes Hadley grew up on a farm outside Franklin, IL, then spent seven seasons on a storm-cleanup and line-clearance crew across Morgan, Cass and Scott counties. That's where he learned how a silver maple acts under wet spring snow, how an eighty-year-old bur oak can be hollow from the flare up, and how to piece a tree down between a farmhouse and a three-phase line.
Summers of derecho cleanup and winters of ice taught him that safe and fast are usually the same thing, as long as the rigging goes up before the saw starts. In 2016 he started the company in Jacksonville with one bucket truck and a chipper.
Today we're a crew of four, working on silver maples in older yards, bur and white oaks around the square, walnut on Mauvaise Terre Creek, cottonwood toward the Illinois River, redcedar fencerows, and a region's worth of borer-killed ash.
Four Services
Removal, stump grinding, trimming and land clearing. That's the whole menu. We don't mow, mulch beds or do landscaping, and we skip commercial contracts so the crew stays free for homeowners. Need something else? We'll say so and point you on.
Our Why
Wes saw Morgan County homeowners stuck between two bad options after a storm. One was a big outfit from out of the area that quoted high and left the brush. The other was a guy with a pickup, a chainsaw and no insurance, dropping a maple and hoping it missed the garage.
His answer was simple: take every tree apart in sections, rig any piece that could hit something, and treat a backyard job with the care you'd give a tree on a power line. That's the crew we built for Jacksonville, IL: small, insured, local and straight about what a tree needs.
Maple, oak, walnut, cottonwood and dead ash each fail their own way, and spring rain loosens root plates in silt loam. We check flare, trunk and crown first.
Near a house or a service drop, the rigging never gets skipped to save an hour. Wes or Nate walks every job first.
Written price first. A dead ash over the drive? We'll say it should go. An oak that's leaned since before the house? We'll say it's fine.
We're done when the wood, brush and chips are gone and the yard looks like it did, minus one tree.
