Serving Literberry, Illinois
Literberry is the unincorporated crossroads north of Jacksonville, a farm community of a few dozen homes on the road toward Virginia.
Local & Insured
About 70 people live here, eight miles north of Jacksonville, or ten road miles and eighteen minutes. It once had its own post office; now it's homes and farmsteads on the county road to the Cass line.
Storms are part of its history: an F4 tornado on May 18, 1883, killed twelve people. The trees are open-prairie trees, with silver maple and walnut groves, hackberry on the fence lines, cottonwoods in the low draws and dead ash in nearly every windbreak.

Why a Jacksonville Crew Comes to Literberry
Literberry sits on our run north to Virginia and Ashland, so estimates here get grouped with Cass County work. A storm call on the north side usually gets a look the same day.
With no timber to break it, wind crosses the township at full speed. Silver maples and cottonwoods on the exposed side of a farmstead are the ones that split, and we take the weak leaders before the season.
Borer-killed ash goes brittle fast. We drop it toward the field while the wood still hinges, chip the tops and leave the live trees in the row standing.
No village board, no village code: Literberry falls under Morgan County, and we found no county tree ordinance. For a tree on your own ground, our written estimate is all the paperwork there's.
Not for a tree wholly on your own lot; Jacksonville's tree ordinance and trimmer license end at the city line. Literberry is unincorporated, so Morgan County rules apply, and we found no county tree ordinance. Burn rules and the rest are on our permits page.
If a windbreak on your Literberry place has more dead ash than live trees or a maple is splitting over the roof, call or ask for a free written estimate.
